Law Enforcement Guidelines

Send a signed, dated PDF on official agency letterhead from an official government email address to support@zoe.date with the subject “Law enforcement legal request.” Email is for intake only and does not waive formal service requirements. We may require service through another legally valid channel.

• The requesting agency, official name, title, badge or identification number, and direct contact details.
• The legal authority and type of process, with a complete signed copy and any court or case number.
• The ZoëDate account identifier, preferably the exact email address, plus any other known identifiers.
• The specific records requested, relevant date range, deadline, and relationship to the investigation.
• Any nondisclosure requirement, preservation request, or emergency facts supporting special handling.

Requests must be narrowly tailored. We may reject, challenge, or seek clarification of requests that are invalid, overbroad, vague, technically infeasible, or inconsistent with applicable law.

Before responding, we verify the sender through independent official channels. This may include confirming the government email domain, agency telephone number, official identity, signature, jurisdiction, case details, and authenticity of the legal process. We do not disclose user data until required authentication and legal review are complete.

We review each request for validity, jurisdiction, scope, and the category of data legally available. We search only for records reasonably responsive to valid process, minimize disclosure to the requested scope, and transmit responsive data through a reasonably secure method. Available records depend on what the user provided, our systems, and the retention periods in our Privacy Policy.

Unless prohibited by law or where notice would create a documented risk of harm, we may notify the affected user before disclosure and allow a reasonable opportunity to challenge the request. We log and restrict internal access to legal-request material.

Authorized officials may request preservation of specifically identified account records pending valid legal process. The request must identify the account, records, date range, legal authority, and requested preservation period. We preserve available records within the scope and period required by applicable law; preservation does not itself authorize disclosure. Extensions require a timely renewed request.

If there is an emergency involving imminent danger of death or serious physical injury, state that clearly in the subject line and provide the specific facts, target account, records sought, and why ordinary legal process cannot arrive in time. We evaluate emergency disclosure requests case by case under applicable law. Submitting an emergency request does not guarantee disclosure.

For child sexual exploitation or abuse, CSAM, trafficking, sexual violence, sextortion, or other abusive content on ZoëDate, also use the in-product reporting tools or our Safety Center. Call local emergency services first when someone is in immediate danger.
